A native to Puyallup Washington Butler was interested in the arts when she was growing as a child. She participated in choirs, competed in singing contests, and appeared in both schools and the local theater. Then she moved in Los Angeles and studied theatre at the University of Southern California. For a year and an half, she portrayed Belle the Princess in Beauty and the Beast. Her decision to leave college was to locate an agent for talent to audition for television and films. Butler appeared as a guest star in the TV series CSI: Miami. In 2008, she had a part in the web-series Luke 11:17. It was directed by Don Stark. Butler was also a regular appearance on I Love Vampires. Butler was chosen to play the lead character in I Spit on Your Grave (a remake) a 2010 revenge and rape thriller. Though initially, she wasn't a fan of the film's sexual violence and nakedness, she eventually came to be convinced of the storyline's feminist tone and strong characters. Butler played Jennifer Hills who, having been severely attacked by a forest cabin, and then gang-raped, seeks revenge on the perpetrators. Steven R. Monroe directed The film was released on the 8th of October, 2010. Butler began shooting The Stranger Within with Estella and William Baldwin, the psychological thriller in Mallorca, beginning in November of 2011. Butler joined the film's cast in Los Angeles of Treachery, with Michael Biehn. Filming began in Los Angeles on June 12 2012. Butler was involved in The Demented (2013), that was written and directed by Michael Welch with Kayla and Michael Welch.
