Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine was born and raised to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam is Jazmine's mom, and was a former backup singer for Philadelphia International Records. When she was five years old, her father was offered a position as a curator at the city's Historic Strawberry Mansion in the Strawberry Mansion section, and her family relocated to the historical landmark. The 2005 graduate from the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts where she was the vocal music instructor. Sullivan started singing in the contralto section of the children's choir. She then sang a few years later in the adult choir. Sullivan was not exposed secular music at first. "I began singing in solos in churches, and one of my friends suggested I sign up to gospel records at age 11. However, I was not ready for it," she says. At that time, McDonald's held a contest with children from large cities. I was allowed to sing "Accept what God allows" at the show Showtime At the Apollo. And the public was extremely supportive. She performed alongside Stevie Wonder at his grandson's birthday party at 13. Sullivan began her contract with Jive Records at the age 15. It was her first time signing with Jive Records around the age of 15. The singer-songwriter produced an entire album but this album didn't get released. Sullivan was ultimately removed on the labels. They had a strong working relations with Missy Elliott. Elliott produced many of her tracks and tracks, such as "Backstabbers" the track that was produced by Timbaland.
